How To Unlock A Sprint Phone With A Code Rating: 3,6/5 1722reviews

Sprint refuses to unlock any domestic phone for use on another carrier. I tried to switch to T Mobile today and bring my own phone, which apparently is a joke. I get it, you can't do it, or at least I can't do it because I have a job and responsibilities which require me not to be on the phone hours on end with reps who are all trained not to give you a straight answer when this issue arises. Which brings me to why I made up a community name and decided to post this comment. Iphone 6 Unlocked Cricket.

Call the Sprint Customer Service line at 888-211-5727. Ask a representative for the software unlock code for your phone. The rep will release the unlock code to. But the new consumer code requires them to unlock devices on request and sets out clear rules for when the carriers. When I ask Sprint to unlock my phone.

I can leave Sprint, a carrier I've been with for 5 years using multiple devices, if I so chose buy simply purchasing another phone or rather another 3 for my family plan. In fact, it's cheaper monthly to do so even with the lease and I'd have another line. I do in fact plan to and get paid back the ETFs. I hope I can trust T-Mobile to do that but I digress. What has me baffled is the 10-15 different answers I received from the different reps in different departments at Sprint today. I was on the phone for several hours at a time to get several different opinions on this issue. Which brings me to the conclusion that either every rep is an idiot or there is a culture of misinforming customers on the unlock issue.

Why would I spend thousands of dollars at a company that can not give me a straight answer about whether or not I really own my phone. I know I can use my phone for Sprint but I really can't do much else can I? Can they lower my bill? No, I have to buy another phone for the newest promotion. I have a phone, in fact, I can't use it anywhere else or for anything else, why would I buy another one. I guess I'm writing this to get it off my chest or maybe some Sprint Manager will see it and care, but I will never buy a phone from Sprint again, I will not use the service and I will not ever recommend them to anyone I know. I'm off to another carrier, you can take my unlocked Sprint iPhone and well you know what you can do with it!

Charles, don't toy with me! Code or not, Sprint does not unlock phones for domestic carriers and Sprint is the only one that can unlock the phone. I don't care to unlock my phone at this point. My point is that Sprint has a culture of misinformation on the issue and your question about codes proves my point. The answer to your question is yes I have the codes after finally getting a tech rep willing to admit he could give it to me. The code is useless and you and I know it. Again, in case your company didn't tell you or if you haven't read the posts on this site, Sprint does not unlock phones for domestic carriers, so what is the point of ME having the codes?

My mistrust of Sprint is not something you can solve. Mcrochet8996 - We understand your frustration at a time where you are looking to have your device unlocked. Please keep in mind that Sprint-branded iPhones have been manufactured in a way that prevents them from being unlocked to allow the device to activate on a different carrier's network in the United States. - Brittany Sprint Social Care. To make you go away. Apple does not use MSL codes. So giving you an MSL code is a worthless gesture that makes you get off the phone. And if that was not the case then those Sprint CSRs that hand these codes out only reinforce the customer perception of Sprint employee stupidity.

Those employees don't know anything about Apple or the iPhone. Otherwise they would understand that MSL codes only apply to NON-Apple phones. There is no physical way you can enter that code and even if you could there is no framework to allow it to work. Apple handles unlocks through a policy that is sent out via iTunes and Apple's unlock database (where your IMEI must be entered). Sprint won't enter any iPhone IMEI for domestic unlocks into that database. MSL codes are worthless to iPhones. See how stupid Sprint employees are?

They don't even know this and they sell and support the iPhone! BTW, the code is: 000000.

Just in case you wanted to know. Not that you can do anything with it. Sprint phones have low value on eBay and other sites (craigslist, etc) because they are locked to Sprint.

The manufacturers design the phones so that they are not technically unlockable. Sprint requires that they do so.

You are confusing the unlock law with the CTIA agreement. The law simply states that if your phone is paid off and you are a customer in good standing that your carrier has to unlock your phone upon request. Like any law there are exemptions like devices that have been rendered unlockable by the manufacturer (see above about Sprint requiring manufacturers to do this). The CTIA agreement, of which Sprint is a participant is along the same lines. But here is where people get false hope. People seem to think that this agreement means that Sprint will all of a sudden unlock their phone after February 2015. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

If you look at Sprint's unlock policy you will find a clause in there that says 'devices planned and manufactured after February 13, 2015'. In other words, if your device was designed by the manufacturer before this date, even if it was manufactured AFTER the date, it does not qualify to be unlocked. This means every model of iPhone from the 6/6+ on back. Only phones that are designed this year AFTER this date and then manufactured later this year or next year are eligible. Sorry to burst any hope you may have had. APOPILOT77 wrote: Sprint refused to unlock my phones so I had to leave. Quick question.

Can I sell these LOCKED phones on EBAY? Do I need to specify they will only work on the Sprint Network?

Samsung Galaxy S4, Nexus 5, and iPhone 5C Blue. You can sell them on eBay as long as you don't owe anything on them.

And yes, make sure that you are very specific that they are locked to Sprint. You will get less for them than if they were from a different carrier, but you'll get something. You may attract the attention of international buyers though as they tend to take advantage of the fact that Sprint phones sell cheaper. They can still be internationally unlocked so this is why. You'll want to make sure the phones are paid off though. The IMEI/MEID of phones are attached to your account so if you sell a phone that is not paid off even if it's not on your account anymore Sprint can still blacklist the IMEI/MEID for lack of payment. It's a rude shock to buy a phone only to find out that because ETF or payment was never paid by the previous owner you now have a useless brick.

Sprint won't talk to you because the previous owner's account information is kept confidential and even if you're willing to pay off the amount owed because of that confidentiality Sprint won't let you. I've seen that happen.
